I like seeing the Hudson River when I walk my dog.
I like seeing the George Washington Bridge lit up at night when I walk the pup and also from my roof. I also enjoy knowing that he and I share a birthday.
I had to put flea and tick medicine on my dog.
A smelly guy sat next to me on the subway today and the air conditioner on our car was broken and I still didn’t mind too much because I just liked being part of the city.
Las cucarachas is not just a catchy song.
The view from the Empire State building at night is incredible and the line is short, so go at night. It’s open until about 1:30AM. — New York tip #1
I am getting use to the Empire State building defining my skyline.
My “deck” is actually a “veranda,” said with an accent.
I thought I saw a star tonight when I went out to the roof, but it was actually a plane.
Dan is not here, and that is sad.
I like buying mangoes on sticks, donuts from carts, and the occasional hot dog.
I miss my boyfriend and my family and all my friends and I hope that you are all doing well and I cannot wait to see you.
some initial thoughts on new york city

Hey,
You don’t know me, but I’m glad you’re enjoying the city. I lived in 555 west 151st for two years and didn’t really like the neighborhood. I thought it was dirty, loud and overall unpleasant. I do miss the roof though!
My girlfriend and I moved to Astoria, Queens a couple of months ago and really like it. I just wish that people who have just moved to New York City would realize that there are other boroughs out there besides Manhattan that have beautiful, inexpensive neighborhoods. You don’t have to settle for Washington Heights!
But besides all that, I got strangely emotional reading your entries. And I hope that doesn’t freak you out since you don’t know me. It’s just a beautiful story of leaving your boyfriend behind, traveling cross country and ending up in a city you know nothing about.
New York Tip #2 – Don’t put up with shit just because you think it’s part of New York. Get angry at the ghetto guys sitting on the stoop and making noise. Tell them to get a job and stop living off the government! Then you’ll be a real new yorker 🙂
Crazy nice comment man… Always amusing how the power of the internet connects people.
Erin I miss you also, as my posts of late no doubt show. Glad you are getting to meet some cool people in NYC and that you are liking your job.
Very cool that you will get to keep up with your Spanish in the city.
